Great Whitley - May 2nd & 3rd A lovely sunny weekend, though we did seem to have some strange gravitational areas as two of the Challenge motors fell over fortunately with only minor injuries, several broken motors, very unusual to see a gear box supported with a Cargo strap! Thanks to Dave M, Dave E and the Potts brothers for an excellent Challenge. A very good turn out for the Trial fifteen motors actually played and it was nice to see old club members Viv and Roger Fairclough who tured up for a look at what we where doing. Thanks yet again to the Potts Family for some excellent sections. |

Bank holday Challenge LRS round three. Fifteen competitors if my memory is working properly who had some lovely sticky mud to overcome , expensive day for the amount of winches that gave up the ghost. I think that alot of the damaged winches would not have have happened if more thought had been given to using snach blocks. As a block costs about £35 it doubles your line pull and effectively turns a 3500lb into a 7000lb pull. Second observation by me you need to wash your ropes out to remove grit and dirt from the fibers after each challenge. Third and final point learn how to tie better knots to secure your lines. Brilliant days play, thank you to our team of layers out and the marshalls and to all the Competitors who attended. Trials, John Bullock Trophy . John would have enjoyed the day. Beautiful sunshine and some excellent sections one of our challengers Steve jeff and his partner suz who are usually challengers joined in and had a great day. the beauty of Brosely is it is so versitile you can do lots of different sections Bank holiday monday. When you drive through thick fog to get there ( Wheathills ) and you arrive on site and you cannot see the track because visbility is down to 50 yards you pray that the fog disappears. The gods where on our side in an hour warm sunshine and 21 competitorsturned up. Two miles of track laid out half fast on the smooth bits and the second half that was so rutted and bumpy we advised the drivers to remove their dentures. For the first hours play the marshalls semmed to be pulling out one vehicle after another. from a spectators point of view it was a cracking days sport. |

| So what is our NEW site at Heightington like?
What a contrast in weather terms, on Saturday the only thing missing was thunder and lightening but Sunday was a absolutely beautiful spring day. For our challenges an absolutely superb testing and technically difficult site. To be honest for trialing we do have better sites. Ground conditions for all events in the wooded areas were very sticky and slippy for all competitors (typical MOC!). Thanks must go to Roy Hart and Dave Middleton for finding this new site for the Midland Offroad Club. The farmer has promised us better access to the field by cutting down the hedge and leveling the entrance. There is also a possibility that we may have more land in the future. It would make a pleasant change if other members of our club found us more new venues and not leave it to the same people all the time. Thank you to all the people who set out for the challenge and trials. |

Donnington National Indoor Off Road Show:- The challenge team lead by Dave Middleton put on a superb stand at the Donnington show it really was the most professional stand there! film footage, excellent full colour leaflets about the club had the stand buzzing all day. new members signed up and may people expressing a firm interest in joining the club. But I think the best part was the enthusiasm of our members that "sold" our club very well done every one. |

AGM + Annual Prize Giving What a great weekend for the Club, if you didn't turn up for the AGM you missed a good night and from my point of view it was nice to be able to thank publicly all of those people who give of their time so freely to make this club the great club that it is. |

| ICE-
Message from the Ambulance Service
We all carry our mobile phones with names & numbers stored in its memory... If we were to be involved in an accident or were taken ill, the people attending us would have our mobile phone but wouldn't know who to call. Yes, there are hundreds of numbers stored but which one is the contact person in case of an emergency? Hence this 'ICE' (In Case of Emergency) Campaign. The concept of 'ICE' is catching on quickly. It is a method of contact during emergency situations. As mobile phones are carried by the majority of the population, all you need to do is store the number of a contact person or persons who should be contacted during emergency under the name 'ICE' (In Case Of Emergency). The idea was thought up by a paramedic who found that when he went to the scenes of accidents there were always mobile phones with patients but they didn't know which number to call. He therefore thought that it would be a good idea if there was a nationally recognised name for this purpose. In an emergency situation, Emergency Service personnel and hospital Staff would be able to quickly contact the right person by simply dialing the number you have stored as 'ICE'. Please forward this. It won't take too many 'forwards' before everybody will know about this. It really could save your life, or put a loved one's mind at rest. For more than one contact name simply enter ICE1, ICE2 and ICE3 etc |
